Job summary

Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) invites applications for a Housing Solutions Specialist in the Office of Community Services. This role focuses on helping people transition from emergency shelters and homeless housing programs, preventing homelessness, and maintaining stable housing.

The specialist builds connections with CoC providers and DHS data systems to serve eligible households. Ideal candidates will guide clients in becoming document ready, assist with housing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services or equivalent experience.
• Two years field work in social services preferred.
• Experience conducting housing eligibility screenings and document readiness.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance to resolve housing crises.
• Perform preliminary eligibility screening for housing programs.
• Explain leasing, tenant rights, and review leases.
• Assist with paperwork to become document ready for housing.
• Advocate for households and empower self-advocacy.
• Track supports and participate in team meetings for DHS.
