Job summary

The Kenan Advantage Group is seeking a field maintenance technician in California. The role requires safe, accurate general maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles at customer sites and shop facilities, with exposure to outdoor conditions.

Candidates should have 5+ years in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, FMCSA-compliant air brake certs, and DOT inspector credentials, plus EPA 609. A valid driver's license and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Air brake certification in compliance with FMCSR 396.25.
• Certified as a DOT commercial motor vehicle inspector per FMCSR.
• Willing to obtain AWS certification.
• EPA 609 certification for MVAC repair.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Basic computer knowledge is required.
• Basic set of technician tools per KAG list.
• Willing to obtain additional certifications for new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Train and assist other technicians in preventive maintenance and repair of trucks, tractors and trailers.
• Create and complete work orders; maintain vehicle maintenance records.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing, including oil changes.
• Perform electrical diagnostics, repair and replacement.
• Lead or assist with parts inventory and charge-out to work orders.
• Learn maintenance software to create and manage work orders.
• Travel to alternate sites to perform maintenance on equipment.
• Perform computer diagnostics using company laptop.
