Position: Mobile Fleet Mechanic (based out of Ocala)
Schedule: 8-10 hour shifts, with availability to work Saturdays as needed
Essential Job Functions
- Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on construction vehicles and equipment.
- Identify and repair vehicle/equipment deficiencies, make adjustments and alignments.
- Maintain detailed records of services and repairs.
- Conduct tests and diagnose issues using electrical and drivability diagnostic skills.
- Perform repairs and overhauls on major assemblies and systems, including powertrains, electrical, brakes, and hydraulics.
- Verify vehicle performance through test drives and system adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle requirements.
- Maintain vehicle appearance and cleanliness.
- Manage shop supplies and inventory effectively.
Desired Qualifications
- Willingness to travel between branch locations using a company-provided service truck; occasional overnight stays may be required.
- Electrical and drivability diagnostic experience (required).
- 1-3 years of mechanic experience with diesel and gas engines for on-highway vehicles.
- Experience with light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle and trailer repair (required).
- Experience with off-highway equipment such as loaders, skid steers, and forklifts.
- Ability to perform annual Federal DOT inspections.
- Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory.
- ASE certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical and Other Requirements
- Physical effort including driving, standing, walking, lifting (minimum 50 pounds), and working from elevated platforms.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, and use manual dexterity.
- Work outdoors in various environmental conditions, including construction zones and high traffic areas.
- Good vision and hearing to monitor vehicle movements and read instructions.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to complete paperwork.
- Flexible schedule including day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license, with passing MVR, drug, and background checks.
- Ability to create accountability and lead by example, with strong team-building skills.
