Job summary

NextGear Capital seeks a Mobile Engineer II to build and evolve mobile experiences supporting customers and operations across one of the automotive industry's leading inventory finance organizations.

You will own discrete features, collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other mobile developers to deliver high-quality native Android and/or iOS apps, while advancing AI-augmented development practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience.
• AI-Augmented Mindset: using AI coding assistants across the SDLC.
• Problem Solving: analytical judgment to troubleshoot moderately complex issues.
• Mobile Ecosystem Awareness: REST APIs and backend services integration.
• Native Mobile Development: Android (Kotlin/Jetpack) and/or iOS experience.
• Version Control & Collaboration: Git workflows and teamwork.
• Observability: logging, metrics and monitoring tools.
• Communication: clearly explain tradeoffs to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI agents and tools to build, test, and deploy software across the SDLC.
• Contribute to prompt engineering experiments and share insights with the team.
• Engage in design and development discussions for feature outcomes.
• Assist with feature/element estimation in terms of technical input and time.
• Develop and implement unit and system tests with secure coding practices.
• Provide technical support for existing and new features in the app and system.
• Use observability tools to monitor health and validate changes in production.
• Document processes capturing best practices and repeatability.
• Update teammates and stakeholders on status and concerns.
• Participate in code reviews and provide/receive feedback.
• Own assigned work and drive to completion with minimal oversight.
