Job summary

Cox Fleet in the United States offers on-site mobile maintenance for trucks and trailers. The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II performs DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs in a field setting, working with a Sr technician as needed.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, road testing, managing parts, and documenting RO findings using TRAIT app. Requires DOT/ASE readiness and clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 3 years related experience, or 5 years related field experience alternative.
• Own a set of hand tools necessary for duties.
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Able to complete DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.
• Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain Driver Qualification File.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PM, DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical/air conditioning, diesel systems and related components.
• Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions with test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Manage parts inventory and service truck, with periodic reconciliation.
• Document work and parts used on Repair Orders via TRAIT iOS app.
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
• Communicate with management for approvals on estimates and RO details.
• Maintain safety, health, and environmental compliance (OSHA/EPA/DOT).
• Maintain service truck and perform daily pre/post trip inspections.
