Job summary

Transwest Mobile Truck Repair is launching a brand-new mobile diesel service market in Laredo, TX. You will be a founding technician, operating with autonomy, representing the company with customers, and setting high standards for service quality from day one.

You will diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines and hydraulic/electrical systems in a field role, supporting South Texas. A strong skill set in diagnostics and customer communication is essential for success in this expanding market.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on diesel and/or heavy equipment repair experience.
• Diagnose engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in the field.
• Professional, customer-focused communication skills.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in various environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary mobile technician supporting customers across Laredo and South Texas.
• Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, and electrical/multiplex systems.
• Repair hydraulic systems on construction, industrial, and material handling equipment.
• Perform brake, suspension, steering, cooling, fuel, DEF, emissions, and HVAC repairs.
• Service trucks, trailers, fleet vehicles, forklifts, and off-road equipment.
• Use OEM and aftermarket diagnostic software to find root causes.
• Work independently in the field and manage daily workload and customer interactions.
• Document diagnostics, repairs, and inspections; source parts and communicate needs.

Mobile Diesel Technician – Laredo, TX [Full-Time]About This OpportunityTranswest Mobile Truck Repair is launching a brand-new service market in Laredo, and this is one of our key first hires in the region. You won't be stepping into an existing structure — you'll help build it. As a founding technician in South Texas, you'll operate with a high degree of autonomy, represent the company directly with customers, and set the standard for service quality and professionalism from day one.Laredo is one of the busiest freight corridors in North America, and the customers here depend on trucks, trailers, and equipment staying in service. We're looking for a technician who can handle both sides of that work — heavy-duty diesel and general equipment repair — and who takes pride in being the person customers ask for by name.This is not a role for someone who needs constant oversight. If you want to be trusted to run a territory the right way, this role was made for you.What You'll Do:Serve as a primary mobile technician supporting customers throughout Laredo and the surrounding South Texas / border regionDiagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, and electrical/multiplex systemsDiagnose and repair hydraulic systems on construction, industrial, and material handling equipmentPerform brake, suspension, steering, cooling, fuel, DEF, emissions, and HVAC repairsService and repair heavy trucks, trailers, fleet vehicles, forklifts, and off-road/construction equipmentUse OEM and aftermarket diagnostic software to find root causes — not just swap partsWork independently in the field, managing your daily workload, service priorities, and customer interactionsCommunicate directly with fleet managers and site leadership with clear repair recommendations and honest updatesComplete preventive maintenance and accurately document all diagnostics, repairs, and inspectionsSource parts and communicate requirements efficientlyHelp establish best practices and service standards as we build out the Laredo operation from the ground upWhat You Bring:5+ years of hands-on diesel and/or heavy equipment repair experience, preferably in mobile or field serviceProven diagnostic ability across engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain componentsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions in the fieldProfessional, customer-focused communication skillsHigh level of integrity, reliability, and personal accountabilityAbility to supply your own standard hand tools appropriate for the roleValid driver's license and clean driving record (company service truck provided)Ability to pass background and drug screening, plus any customer site requirementsAbility to lift 50+ lbs and work in indoor/outdoor environmentsPreferred QualificationsASE certifications or OEM training (Cummins, Detroit, CAT, Allison, Freightliner, etc.)Experience with Cummins INSITE, CAT ET, Allison DOC, ServiceRanger, JPRO, or similar diagnostic softwarePrior experience as a lead tech, senior tech, or primary field technicianWelding/fabrication experience or CDLBilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus in this marketWhy This Role Is Different:Ground-floor opportunity: You're not joining an existing team — you're helping launch one.
