Job summary

Cox Automotive in the United States is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II for a day shift with a flexible work option. The role involves 100% travel within the country and performing on-site mobile maintenance for light to heavy-duty trucks.

You will perform PMs, DOT inspections, and repairs, diagnose a range of truck systems, and document work using TRAIT on an iOS device. The position emphasizes safety and independent scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Perform PM, DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust and repair electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, diesels, transmissions, clutches, differentials.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using handheld computers and pressure gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and proper operation.
• Identify problems and evaluate information to determine the best course of action.
• Independently manage parts inventory on the service truck and reconcile periodically.
• Maintain and operate the service vehicle, perform safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Communicate with clients to assess needs and provide information or assist with repairs.
• Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time allocations effectively.
• Use hand tools, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks as needed.
• Document repairs with photos and RO notes using TRAIT on iOS device.
• Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
• Work independently and manage daily schedule while maintaining productivity within standard repair times.
• Obtain parts from local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
• Communicate with management to obtain approvals on estimates and RO findings.
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and DOT safety regulations.
