Job summary

Ziegler CAT in Brainerd, MN is seeking a full-time, experienced Field Service Technician to service heavy diesel equipment including trucks, construction, and agricultural gear. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain CAT equipment in the field or at customer sites, using strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable mechanic experience.
• 5+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience, preferably some field experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems.
• Previous CAT equipment experience; Challenger tractors, combines or hay equipment; AGCO RoGators, TerraGators, SpraCoupes; Sunflower tillage equipment; or White Planters is a plus but not required.
• Ability to diagnose all equipment without supervision and read/understand schematics.
• Strong customer service mindset, attention to detail, and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs Caterpillar equipment including heavy construction, power generation, and agricultural equipment in the area.
• Responds to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner; a company truck is provided.
• Uses independent judgment to maintain and repair complex equipment with mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel and electrical systems.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area and a well-kept service vehicle.
• Interacts with management and team members to satisfy customer needs and provides assistance to other technicians as needed.
• Communicates job status with supervisor and completes work orders for billing and handoff.
• Responds to after-hours emergency calls as directed and identifies parts needs for inventory.
