Job summary

The Pete Store LLC in Hyattsville, MD seeks a skilled diesel technician to repair and maintain diesel engine industrial trucks per dealership and factory specs. You will diagnose malfunctions, order parts, and document work on repair orders while keeping customers informed of progress.

Qualifications

• Two years related experience and/or training.
• Brakes Certification for Medium/Heavy Truck – Preferred
• Diesel Engines Certification for Medium/Heavy Truck – Preferred
• Drive Train Certification for Eaton and Meritor – Preferred
• Electrical/Electronic Systems Certification for Medium/Heavy Truck – Preferred
• Heating and Air Conditioning Certification for Commercial Truck – Preferred
• Manual Drive Train and Axle Certification for Auto/Light Truck – Preferred
• State Emission Certification – Preferred
• State Vehicle Inspector Certification – Preferred
• Paccar MX Certification – Preferred
• Cummins Engine Certification on ISB, ISC & ISX 2150 through 2350 – Preferred
• Preventive Maintenance Inspection Certification for Medium/Heavy Truck – Preferred
• Suspension and Steering Certification for Medium/Heavy Truck - Preferred

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains diesel engine industrial trucks according to dealership and factory specifications.
• Performs work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy.
• Diagnoses causes of malfunctions and performs repairs.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by customer.
• Examines vehicle to determine if further safety or service is required or recommended.
• Communicates with service advisor and foreman about additional work or time constraints.
• Documents all work performed on the repair order.
• Road tests vehicles when required.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and events.
• Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Supervises apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to foreman.
• Maintains dealership tools and shop area.
• Complies with safety regulations and reports issues promptly.
