Job summary

Thresholds is seeking a Crisis Worker to join the Mobile Crisis Response Team in the Kankakee area. You will respond to mental health crises, assess safety, and determine the appropriate response, partnering with a Peer Engagement Specialist when needed.

You may meet callers at home or in the community, provide support to reduce harm, and connect individuals with services. Expect training and professional development, including clinical supervision.

Qualifications

• Passion for mental health advocacy.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to problem-solve.
• Strong time management and organization.
• Must be at least 23 years old.
• Valid driver’s license (daily access to a vehicle preferred).
• Ability to work the Friday–Tuesday, 3:00pm–11:30pm schedule.

Responsibilities

• Respond to mental health crises and assess safety.
• Answer crisis hotline calls and determine appropriate response.
• Connect callers to services or meet them at home/work as needed.
• Document services provided and follow up with clients.
• Engage in professional development and community outreach between calls.
