Job summary

Independent Living Inc. in Cornwall, NY seeks a Peer Mobile Emergency Response Specialist to join a first-response team supporting individuals in crisis related to substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Using lived experience, you provide immediate, person-centered peer support in high-pressure situations with a harm-reduction approach. You will collaborate with clinical partners and EMS, document promptly, educate on recovery options, and advocate for participants’ rights while guiding them

Qualifications

• Lived experience with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders and willingness to share appropriately to support others
• Ability to remain calm and supportive in crisis situations
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis situations with a team of clinicians and EMS
• Provide individualized, compassionate peer support during emergencies
• Remain on-site with clinical teams to offer emotional support
• Educate on harm reduction and recovery options
• Complete documentation accurately and timely
