Job summary

Healthcare in Action, Inc. is hiring for the Garden Grove Mobile Crisis Response Team, a two-person co-response program with the City of Garden Grove and GGPD delivering mobile mental health and crisis stabilization in the field.

The Mental Health Specialist conducts crisis assessments, de-escalation, suicide and violence risk assessments, and counseling after GGPD clears the scene, triages needs, and connects individuals to services, under supervision toward licensure with EMT collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field and CA BBS registration.
• California Driver’s License required; clean record preferred.
• At least 1 year in mental health or crisis response; field-based experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct crisis assessment, triage, and behavioral health evaluation in the field after GGPD clearance.
• Lead de-escalation and provide crisis counseling to individuals in crisis.
• Perform suicide and violence risk assessment and safety planning.
• Connect individuals to appropriate services and transfer care to receiving providers.
• Document assessments, dispositions, and follow-up; support program reporting.
• Work in two-person co-response team with an EMT; escalate to CAT, GGPD, or DMH as needed.
• Consult LCSW Supervisor during weekdays and on-call clinicians on weekends; pursue licensure supervision.
