Job summary

Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking compassionate Crisis Counselors for community-based roles across Decatur, Illinois. As part of our Crisis Care Team, you will intervene in various settings, providing essential support during mental health crises.

Ideal candidates possess a relevant degree and have experience in behavioral health. This full-time position offers a dynamic work environment focused on impact and community service.

Qualifications

• Flexibility for varying crisis needs.
• Experience in crisis services strongly preferred.
• Master's-level Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) must obtain licensure within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face, phone, and virtual crisis intervention.
• Work with the distressed individuals across crisis situations.
• Assist with involuntary admission processes at the Macon County Court.

Skills

Ability to engage individuals in behavioral health treatment during high-stress situations

Flexibility

Knowledge of behavioral health diagnoses

Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills

Strong written and verbal communication

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field
