Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Overland Park is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist Tech Specialist – Float for the Days shift. This role provides technical leadership across the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely results and serving as the domain expert in the absence of management.

You will float to multiple locations, analyze specimens, oversee calibration and QC, mentor students and staff, and participate in quality assurance and regulatory activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree required.
• High School diploma meets CLIA high complexity testing requirements.
• Will obtain MLS/MLT licensure within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results in a timely manner.
• Maintains inventory, schedules staff, and participates in departmental financial planning.
• Coordinates quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and readiness of the laboratory.
• Oversees calibration, maintenance and QC for instruments; mentors staff and students.
