Job summary

Kansas Health System is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist or Technican for the evenings, full-time. The role focuses on accurate, timely lab testing and quality results for patient care.

The candidate will perform routine and complex analyses, mentor staff, and may float to other locations within the system as needed. A CLS/MLS credential and appropriate certification are required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Lab Science/Medical Technology or equivalent
• NCCLS approved training program completed or eligible via ASCP MLS
• ASCP/AMT or equivalent credential within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results promptly.
• Calibrates, maintains, operates and troubleshoots instrumentation and documents activity.
• Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable.
• Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Mentors students, employees and residents as applicable.
• Prepares, labels and stores reagents and specimens; maintains inventory.
• Reviews results and correlates with patient condition; identifies abnormal/critical values.
• May float to other locations within the health system.
