Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, KS is seeking a PRN Medical Lab Scientist for the Core Lab. This role supports evening shifts and involves comprehensive lab testing to ensure accurate, timely results and adherence to quality standards.

Responsibilities include instrument calibration, quality control, phlebotomy, and mentoring staff and students as applicable. The employee may float to other locations within the organization as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biological, Physical, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology.
• High School Graduate.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification or eligible (ASCP/AMT) within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results in a timely manner.
• Calibrates, maintains, operates and troubleshoots instrumentation and documents findings.
• Completes continuing education and maintains appropriate documentation.
• Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and participates in QA/QI activities.
