Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Virginia. The MLS performs routine tests on blood and tissue specimens and provides physicians with accurate results while upholding patient safety and privacy.

Required are a Bachelor of Science in CLS or related field through a CLIA-approved program and MLS certification or eligibility (ASCP preferred). Strong attention to quality, safety, and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA approved program (required)

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or recognizing abnormal results
• Recognizes factors affecting measurements and takes action per protocols
• Performs quality control for all testing and ensures results meet established ranges
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment with equipment checks and cleanup
