Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking an International Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead a team of ML engineers building models powering credit lending decisions across Europe and Australia. You will mentor engineers, shape ML strategy, and partner with risk, product, and engineering leaders to deliver scalable solutions.

You will drive technical strategy, collaborate across teams, and oversee talent development while navigating ambiguity and complex systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 8+ years of industry experience including 3+ years managing engineers.
Experience in financial services, specifically credit/lending.
Proficiency in machine learning with tree-based models, transformers, deep learning, and agentic ML.
Strong engineering skills with hands-on technical leadership while working with code/architecture.
Comfort moving from low-level language idioms to large system architecture.

Responsibilities

Set the technical strategy for your team and align projects with underwriting system needs.
Advocate for scalable technical solutions and robust operational processes.
Collaborate with product, analytics, risk, and design to ensure sustainable architectures and trade-offs.
Mentor engineers, provide feedback, and lead by example.
Participate in on-call rotations as required.
