Job summary

Rivian is seeking an intern for the ML Compiler team in Fall 2026. You will work on software to enable inference of deep learning networks on Rivian hardware, collaborating with Autonomy and Hardware teams. The role focuses on compiler support for RAP1 and performance optimizations.

You must be an undergraduate or graduate student at UIUC, pursuing engineering, and available 20 hours/week in Fall/Spring or 40 hours/week in Summer. Office work in the Research Park is required.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD at UIUC.
• Active student in Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of CV, DL, NLP concepts and AI basics.
• Experience with ML compilation stacks and optimizations.
• Solid math background and ability to analyze results.
• Strong software fundamentals and problem solving.
• Excellent C++ and Python programming skills.
• Must be enrolled at UIUC and able to work in Research Park office.
• Available 20 hours/week in Fall/Spring and 40 hours/week in Summer.
• Weekly task updates and monthly project updates are required.

Responsibilities

• Work on the ML Compiler for mapping Autonomy ML models to RAP1.
• Implement graph lowering passes to compile models to RAP1.
• Develop hardware-aware optimizations and memory-efficient representations.
• Implement operator fusion targeted to RAP1.
• Benchmark and analyze performance across platforms to improve deployment efficiency.
• Verify functionality via functional simulation or emulation.
