Job summary

Rivian is seeking an intern to work with the Electrical Hardware team on mechanical design using CAD tools and modeling to ensure reliability and manufacturability. The role requires being an undergraduate or graduate student at UIUC with an expected graduation between Dec 2026 and May 2028, and the ability to commit to 20 hours per week in Fall/Spring and 40 hours in Summer.

You will create CAD drawings, collaborate with engineers, and perform FEA to validate designs, while learning from a team

Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering at UIUC.
• Actively pursuing a degree or related field in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed CAD drawings using SolidWorks, Catia, or Creo.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop innovative designs that meet project specifications.
• Write scripts using Perl, Python, Tcl, Cadence SKILL, and C++.
• Perform mechanical simulation (FEA) to assess robustness and manufacturability.
