Job summary

GSM Outdoors is seeking a Mixing Lead in Louisiana to supervise daily mixing operations, coordinate production activities, and support the Production Supervisor in leading the team. You will ensure equipment runs efficiently, production documentation is accurate, materials are managed, and safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1–3+ years of manufacturing or production experience.
  • Previous experience operating mixing equipment or manufacturing machinery preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift or willingness to become forklift certified.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to use common hand tools.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals and cross‑functional teams.
  • Basic computer proficiency and math skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential with the ability to train and support team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily mixing operations to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Coordinate equipment setup, startup, operation, changeovers, shutdown, and cleanup.
  • Monitor equipment and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and escalate as needed.
  • Ensure production processes are followed efficiently and safely.
  • Support the Production Supervisor with training and coaching of staff.
  • Promote safety, teamwork, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and production documentation.
  • Complete and review daily reports and WIP records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for safety and efficiency.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a Mixing Lead to oversee daily mixing operations, coordinate production activities, and support the Production Supervisor in leading the team. This hands‑on leadership role is responsible for ensuring equipment is operating efficiently, production documentation is completed accurately, raw materials are managed effectively, and safety and quality standards are consistently met.

What You’ll Do
Lead Daily Mixing Operations
  • Oversee daily mixing operations to ensure production schedules and quality standards are achieved.
  • Coordinate equipment setup, startup, operation, changeovers, shutdown, and cleanup.
  • Monitor mixing equipment and machinery to ensure proper operation and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and elevate concerns when necessary.
  • Ensure production processes are followed consistently and efficiently.
Support Team Leadership
  • Assist the Production Supervisor with training, coaching, evaluating, and developing production employees.
  • Reinforce company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Help ensure staffing needs and workflow priorities are met throughout each shift.
Inventory & Production Reporting
  • Complete and review Daily Mixer Reports, Work-in-Process (WIP) reports, silo reports, and inventory documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials and consumable items.
  • Perform cycle counts of raw materials and assist with inventory reconciliation.
  • Report raw material shortages to Production leadership to minimize production delays.
Maintain Safety & Quality Standards
  • Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the department.
  • Ensure all equipment, workstations, and production areas remain clean and organized.
  • Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, forklift issues, and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Ensure employees follow all company safety procedures and properly utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements

Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, twist, reach, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Operate forklifts and manufacturing equipment safely.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that may include dust, grease, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
