Job summary

Cavalry Construction & Restoration in Houston, TX is hiring a Mitigation Inspector to oversee the full inspection process from initial dispatch through securing a signed Work Authorization.

This role requires clear communication with homeowners, referral partners, and internal teams to ensure accurate scoping and a smooth transition into production. You’ll document findings, manage paperwork, and support field crews in a fast-paced environment ensuring exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in restoration, construction, or inspection environments.
• 1–2 years using Xactimate for estimates and scope.
• 1–2 years in property insurance or catastrophe claims.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with CRM software for leads and sales.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of mitigation inspections up to obtaining a signed Work Authorization.
• Document all communication, site findings, photos, notes, and job progress in Dash.
• Perform in-person damage assessments and secure jobs directly with homeowners or responsible parties.
• Participate in weekly strategy meetings with the Marketing Representative, Operations Manager, File Coordinator, and General Manager to review secured and non-secured jobs.
• Keep all stakeholders informed of job status from initial visit through signed authorization (homeowner, tenant, property manager, referral partner, etc.).
• Organize all job documentation - including pictures, notes, sketches, and tasks within the CRM.
• Utilize moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, and other inspection tools to document site conditions accurately.
• Provide the File Coordinator and Operations Manager with complete scope details and remain available for clarification during production.
• Process required regulatory sampling (asbestos, lead, etc.) in accordance with guidelines.
• Complete all assigned daily tasks and ensure each job is updated appropriately before the end of the workday.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing field inspections and comply with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site‑specific safety requirements.

Cavalry Construction & Restoration provides full‑service water, fire, storm, and property damage restoration across the entire state of Texas, with a strong operational presence in the Houston area. Our team combines rapid response, industry expertise, and exceptional customer care to guide homeowners and property owners through every stage of the restoration process — from emergency mitigation to full reconstruction.

As a key member of our Operations team, the Mitigation Inspector reports to the Operations Manager and oversees the full inspection process, from initial dispatch through securing a signed Work Authorization. This role requires clear communication with homeowners, referral partners, and internal teams to ensure accurate scoping and a smooth transition into production. Once a project is secured, you’ll complete a detailed handoff to the File Coordinator to keep the workflow moving efficiently.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sharp attention to detail, accurate scoping, and a customer‑first mindset. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment while delivering an exceptional experience for customers navigating stressful property damage situations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in restoration, construction, or inspection‑based environments
• Minimum of 1-2 years of hands‑on experience using Xactimate to prepare detailed estimates, scope losses, and support insurance restoration or construction projects.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of property insurance claims, restoration, or catastrophe claims experience.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to interact professionally with homeowners, tenants, property managers, and referral partners
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions in the field
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Experience using CRM software to manage leads, customer interactions, and sales activities.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail with a strong work ethic and sense of accountability
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Has Valid Driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Experience managing insurance restoration projects and writing detailed scopes of work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Existing IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification preferred; current certification strongly desired
• 2+ years of mitigation and/or reconstruction experience.
• Experience working directly with insurance adjusters, carriers, and third‑party administrators.
• Relevant industry certifications such as IICRC, Xactimate Certification, or adjuster licensing.
• Sales experience is a plus, particularly in restoration, construction, roofing, or insurance‑related services.

This is a full‑time, in‑person role in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment where no two days are the same. You'll spend most of your time in the field meeting homeowners, inspecting properties, documenting damage, and helping customers start the restoration process. The schedule includes a mix of field and office work and may vary based on customer needs and emergency situations, so flexibility, organization, and strong time management skills are important.
