Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory seeks a Technical Engineering Project Manager to lead day-to-day execution of complex technical projects within the Mission Systems Department. You will bridge technology and operations, delivering integrated solutions for DoD-related programs and transitioning research into field-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 6+ years relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
• Bachelor's Degree plus 3+ years relevant experience for Advanced Professional.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and oversight for technical projects or defined workstreams within larger, complex programs.
• Define, maintain, and monitor project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Coordinate cross-functional engineering, operations, and support teams to align resources and achieve objectives.
• Develop and deliver technical project status reports and briefings to sponsors.
• Coordinate and support technical reviews, milestones, and system integration activities.
• Monitor performance metrics, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Lead change-control and configuration management activities.
• Develop integrated project schedules, resource plans, and work breakdown structures.
• Oversee project documentation and sponsor reviews and audits.
• Support transition of research and emerging technologies into development and field-ready systems.
• Provide technical expertise and contribute to proposals and new business opportunities.
