Job summary

Vast is hiring a Software Engineer, Mission Software in Long Beach, California. You will join a team delivering space-station level software systems, with front-end and back-end work across APIs, data models, and pipelines.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in CS/Math/Engineering and 1+ year of software development experience, plus comfort with Docker/Kubernetes and multiple languages. As part of a mission-driven company building Haven modules, you will contribute to scalable code, robust tooling,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or engineering.
• 1+ years of academic or internship software development experience.
• Experience with data-intensive full-stack applications and APIs.
• Containerization experience (Docker and Kubernetes preferred).
• Experience with multiple programming languages and time series data/databases.
• Experience with API design and modern frontend/backend stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement web applications using modern frontends and application servers.
• Design and implement backend data models, APIs and pipelines.
• Iterate quickly on tooling and design as the company grows.
• Adopt scalable software practices for a large codebase and team.
