Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA, is seeking a senior staff or project engineer to lead teams in spacecraft operations, sensor networks, and mission planning. You will contribute to data management, mission verification, and analytical tool development, interfacing with customers and engineering teams.

Required are a strong aerospace background, MATLAB/SQL/Linux skills, and experience with STK/GMAT. A TS/SBI/SCI clearance and U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Astrodynamics, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of aerospace engineering or operations experience.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, SQL, and Linux command-line environments.
  • Experience with aerospace engineering tools (STK, GMAT, or similar).
  • Experience processing sensor data, telemetry, and large aerospace datasets; Git/GitHub for version control.
  • Willing to travel approx. 10-15%.
  • Requires a current TS/SBI/SCI security clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and leadership to a team supporting spacecraft operations, sensor network monitoring, and mission simulation activities.
  • Support design, implementation, and maintenance of scheduling tools, operational databases, and satellite tracking campaigns.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Lead integration of multi-sensor data and contribute to reports, documentation, and briefings.
  • Prepare technical docs including SOPs, CONOPS, user manuals, and readiness assessments.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including operations staff, researchers, and engineers.
  • Manage project components including planning, milestones, and progress reporting.
  • Interface regularly with customers on technical matters.
