Job summary

Antares in Torrance, CA is seeking a Mission Engineer II to lead programs across commercial, defense, and space microreactor missions—on Earth and in space. You will serve as a primary technical contact for customers and stakeholders, driving development, deployment, and application of Antares systems to meet mission needs.

You will operate at the intersection of engineering, product development, and mission integration, owning how the complete product is applied from concept to end of life.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or applied science.
• 3+ years of experience developing or delivering technically complex systems in mission- or safety-critical environments.
• Exceptional technical writing and communication skills for customer-facing deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of customer-facing and customer-funded R&D programs, owning cost, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, milestone execution, technical deliverables and reviews.
• Manage program costs, schedules, quality, and deliverables; translate customer needs into technical requirements.
• Drive product development to ensure Antares systems can be transported, deployed, and operated with customer infrastructure.
• Own mission-level product integration across the lifecycle, translating needs into interfaces and development priorities.
• Perform first-principles analyses and develop models/tools to evaluate trade spaces and mission impacts.
• Ideate and develop new applications and missions, supporting RFIs, proposals, and contract capture.
• Lead architecture, interfaces, and trade studies integrating technical, cost, schedule, and business considerations.
