Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) in Newport, RI seeks a sales associate to represent our brand and deliver outstanding customer service. You will help customers identify needs, explain products, and promote promotions while upholding our standards and policies.

The role emphasizes team collaboration, reliable attendance, cash handling, and maintaining store appearance. Retail experience is welcome but not required; training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Retail experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Ability to multi-task while being attentive to customers and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Proactively engage and connect with customers, asking questions to identify needs.
• Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about promotions and events.
• Provide premier customer service and build positive relationships.
• Maintain store appearance and assist with inventory processes.
• Cross-sell and upsell products, and process sales using POS systems.
• Be the keeper of merchandise and ensure accurate ticketing and checkout procedures.
• Adhere to work schedules and take initiative with minimal supervision.
