Job summary

Lighthouse Mission Ministries is seeking a Sous Chef to help oversee daily food service, supporting volunteers, residents, and donors in a high-volume, donation-driven kitchen. You will model hospitality, supervision, and grace-based accountability while ensuring safe food preparation and service.

The role emphasizes culinary skill, leadership, and ministry in a compassionate community setting, coordinating with partners and maintaining HACCP-compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Experience working with volunteers and residents in a kitchen setting.
• Ability to plan and execute bulk meals (50–300+ portions).
• Knowledge of health codes, food safety, and sanitation best practices.
• Ability to train others and lead by example in a ministry kitchen.
• Comfort with trauma-informed, compassionate communication and hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Support the Food Service Manager by following kitchen procedures and health codes.
• Train volunteers and residents in safe food handling and station duties.
• Maintain food handler compliance for all kitchen workers.
• Track inventory, manage donations, and ensure equipment functions.
• Keep kitchen and dining areas clean and food-safe; maintain logs.
