Harlem Children’s Zone is hiring a Cook for the Promise Academy Kitchen Department. The role involves cooking for scholars and staff, following recipes, and maintaining food safety standards in a high-volume setting.

The ideal candidate has a culinary background, NYC DOH certification, and at least 3 years of experience; leadership and teamwork are essential for coordinating with the Kitchen Manager and servers.

Qualifications

• Must have GED or high school diploma.
• Valid NYC DOH Food Protection Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years as a Cook in food service.

Responsibilities

• Follow menus, cooking instructions and safety standards.
• Execute daily menu preparation ensuring quality and quantity.
• Ensure items are prepared and displayed in an attractive way.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cooking equipment and portion sizes.
• Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
