Job summary

FSA Federal in Louisiana seeks a Paralegal III to support the USAO, Eastern District of Louisiana, Narcotics and Violent Crime Section. You will prepare complex legal documents, manage dockets, and assist attorneys in trial preparation.

Applicants must have a paralegal certificate or HS diploma with at least 5 years of paralegal experience; U.S. Citizenship and a background investigation of 7- or 10-year minimum are required. Strong writing and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate or HS Diploma required with 1 year paralegal experience.
• Minimum 5 years paralegal experience.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with Relativity is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process voluminous legal documents in complex formats.
• Review materials and determine the need for pleadings, motions, and subpoenas.
• Obtain information from files and submit documents to AUSAs or courts.
• Prepare indictments, complaints, orders, and related filings per rules.
• Support trial preparation with notebooks, jury instructions, and lists.
• Coordinate with victim/witness team on guidelines and notices.
• Verify citations and references using legal resources.
• Assemble tables of contents and indices for briefs.
• Provide clerical and admin support to AUSA staff.
• Maintain files and scheduling, and manage calendars.
