Job summary

Food Lifeline is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead and strengthen our accounting operations, reporting to the CFO, and ensure the integrity of financial systems. You will oversee month-end close, annual audit, payroll, vendor and grant accounting, and reporting to support mission delivery.

The role emphasizes leadership, internal controls, and collaboration with program teams to ensure accurate, audit-ready records and compliant grant accounting in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Nonprofit accounting experience including federal grants.
• Experience with Uniform Guidance and Single Audit.
• Strong internal controls and grant reporting.
• Ability to lead close processes and audits.
• Excellent communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and annual close processes.
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and grants reporting.
• Coordinate external audits and Single Audit activities.
• Improve internal controls and financial systems across the organization.
