Job summary

St. Joseph High School is seeking a mission-driven Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, ensure fiscal stability, and align resources with Catholic education goals.

The CFO will report to the President and work with the Board to develop financial strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable planning. The role leads budgeting, reporting, risk management, and IT systems oversight while supporting fundraising and HR oversight, and collaborating with leadership on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• CPA, CMA, CFA or MBA or MBA is highly desirable.
• Minimum 5–8 years of financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in a private school or Catholic institution preferred; familiarity with budgeting, forecasting and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budget development and long-term financial forecasts.
• Ensure GAAP and applicable financial standards compliance.
• Manage cash flow, investments, and banking relationships.
• Oversee risk management, internal controls, and audit processes.
• Oversee daily accounting functions with business office staff.
• Support advancement and endowment management, donor stewardship, and grants.
• Oversee HR operations, payroll and benefits administration.
• Maintain and improve financial systems and software for reporting.
• Collaborate with President, Principal, and Board on strategic planning and capital campaigns.
• Provide clear, mission-focused financial updates to stakeholders.
• Represent the school in financial matters with external partners.
