Job summary

Bethesda House in Covington County, Alabama seeks a Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director to serve as the organization's chief executive and public voice, accountable to the Board for the health of the program, staff, standards, and resources. The incoming ED will begin with a structured training period before assuming full responsibility on January 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit leadership, trauma-informed services, or human services administration is valued.

Responsibilities

• Assure safekeeping of legal and regulatory documents and records, and comply with relevant business laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
• Facilitate and monitor ongoing Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) and compliance with national accreditation standards.
• Serve as the chief advocate and spokesperson for the issues and needs of Bethesda House.
• Facilitate an annual financial review and/or audit in consultation with the Board.
• Develop an annual budget with identified funding sources, in consultation with the Board, Director, and Marketing Director, to support the needs of Bethesda House programs and properties.
• Provide leadership and training for staff and volunteers with clear, documented expectations, regular supervision, and constructive feedback that supports performance and professional growth.
• Conduct an annual review and update of policies, procedures, and the strategic plan in consultation with the Board, Director, and Marketing Director.
• Expand the vision and oversight for Bethesda House social enterprise initiatives, including our Airbnb property — Legacy House – and the Purple Lotus Management Project, ensuring these ventures advance the mission while strengthening the organization’s financial sustainability.
