Job description

The client is seeking an Executive Director to lead a mission-driven nonprofit organization providing comprehensive health and social services to historically underserved communities. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as chief executive and principal ambassador, providing strategic leadership across healthcare, behavioral health, social services, prevention, administration, and community-facing functions.

Key responsibilities include partnering with the Board and senior leadership team to advance the organization’s mission, strategic plan, and long-term priorities. The role will translate strategy into clear goals and measurable outcomes, identify opportunities to expand access and increase community impact, and proactively anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities affecting the communities served. The Executive Director will balance respect for existing strengths and organizational history with thoughtful innovation, and will cultivate strategic partnerships to support sustainability and future growth.

The Executive Director will lead and develop a talented, mission-driven team by fostering a culture of trust, accountability, collaboration, and inclusion. They will strengthen cross-department communication so staff understand organizational priorities, coach direct reports, and build leadership capacity. The role also includes strategic oversight of programs, ensuring high-quality and responsive service delivery, evaluating opportunities for expanded access through new service models and partnerships, and supporting the systems and infrastructure needed for efficient, effective operations.
