Job summary

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, software engineering, or systems engineering.
• Must continue to be enrolled the semester after the internship.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required for clearance.
• Basic programming knowledge demonstrated through coursework or projects; reading, writing, and testing a small program (Python or similar).
• Interest in applied AI and learning how AI tools, APIs, and data support practical user needs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in discussions with technical and mission users with a mentor; document workflow needs, questions, and objectives.
• Build or adapt prototype components, scripts, or API integrations under senior staff guidance.
• Learn and follow security, data-handling, and responsible-AI practices; use approved tools and data.
• Run tests and document results; troubleshoot using existing guidance and mentor feedback.
• Contribute to starter kits, reusable examples, setup instructions, and project docs.
• Assist with demonstrations, tutorials, hands-on learning activities, and routine user-support tasks with experienced staff.
• Set learning goals with a mentor and present project results and lessons learned at the end of the internship.
