Job summary

MITRE is seeking an AI Solutions Architect Intern who is pursuing a Bachelor's degree. You will work with a technical mentor to gain hands-on experience using approved AI tools, APIs, data workflows, and development environments on a scoped project.

Under guidance, you will contribute to prototype components, document results, and learn secure, responsible AI practices. The internship includes mentorship, project demonstrations, and learning goals with a defined end‑of‑internship presentation.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to AI or software engineering.
• Ability to read, write, and test small programs or scripts (Python or similar).
• Interest in applied AI, tools, APIs, data workflows and responsible AI practices.
• Willingness to work with mentors, document progress, and learn through guided projects.
• Enrolled for the semester following the internship and eligible for security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in discussions with technical and mission users with a mentor.
• Build or adapt prototype components, scripts, or API integrations using approved tools.
• Follow security, data handling, and responsible-AI practices; seek guidance when needed.
• Run tests, compare outputs to criteria, and document results and limitations.
• Contribute starter kits, setup instructions, and project documentation for reuse.
• Assist with demonstrations, tutorials, and routine user-support tasks with staff.
• Set learning goals with a mentor and present project outcomes at internship end.
