Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Mission Director to own a broad portfolio, identify new opportunities within the Army domain, and guide solutions from discovery to contract award. You will maintain accountability for contract execution, delivery, and portfolio outcomes while building and leading teams across evolving programs.

The role requires deep defense domain knowledge, revenue ownership, and the ability to operate with ambiguity. Travel of 25-40% is expected as the portfolio grows.

Qualifications

• Experience within PAE Fires/Maneuver Ground or a closely related defense environment.
• Strong understanding of the culture, mission, stakeholders, and terminology within the domain.
• Experience in military operations, government program management, acquisition, contracting, business development, or defense program leadership.

Responsibilities

• Build the business by identifying opportunities and growing a diversified portfolio.
• Shape and close opportunities through proper scoping, solutions, and acquisition approaches.
• Own contract execution and supervise delivery until scale requires additional PM support.
• Build and lead teams across contracts, scaling the portfolio with program managers.
• Grow the portfolio with follow-on work, expansions, and customer retention.
