Job summary

Leidos Defense Sensors is hiring Software Developers across levels to support critical missile defense programs in the Sensor Research and Analysis Division. Roles include feature/enabler development within Agile teams, as well as defect resolution and rapid-response support during major test events.

As a Software Developer, you will design, build, and modify software with C++, Java, and other languages, translating user needs into effective solutions for national defense.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 2–4 years of real-time software experience.
• Proficiency in C++.
• Experience with Java and UI development.
• Experience with GitLab/Git.
• Experience with RHEL environments.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies (SAFe).
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Resident of North Alabama area for onsite work.

Responsibilities

• Develop, troubleshoot, and debug software components using C++, Java, or similar languages.
• Collaborate with program experts to design and debug and to develop new capabilities for integration.
• Apply engineering principles to ensure modifiability, efficiency, reliability, and reusability of code.
• Create and maintain automated builds and CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute in an Agile team, including PI Planning and Sprint activities.
• Participate in team demos to showcase work and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain a positive, proactive, collaborative team culture.
