Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an early professional mechanical engineer for a design-centric role in our Government Services Unit. You will support multi-disciplinary teams, produce calculations, drawings, and reports, and contribute to qualification of structures and systems.

The position emphasizes thermodynamics, heat transfer, and machine design and requires a strong academic background and 1+ year of engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
• BSME degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program with interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, machine design, or thermal systems
• 1+ year of engineering experience
• Working knowledge of codes, standards and regulations (ASME B31 piping, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, ASME AG-1)
• Experience writing and providing support documentation for mechanical engineering calculations
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical design engineering efforts on a multi-disciplined project design team
• Produce engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings and reports
• Apply mechanical engineering expertise to design and qualification of structures, systems and components
• Produce Procurement Specifications and Construction Specifications (Mechanical sections)
• Attend project meetings and perform field walk-downs
