Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for the Mission Critical team in Overland Park, KS. This Summer Internship offers exposure to federal projects, multidisciplinary engineering challenges, and hands-on growth opportunities while contributing to critical infrastructure initiatives.

As a formal intern, you will support engineering analyses, assist in equipment selection, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver contract drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

No experience required.
Currently enrolled in ABET-accredited university in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, MVR) per applicable laws.

Responsibilities

Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings.
Designs include HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, standby power, flood control systems, and other specialties.
Perform a variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs.
Prepare basic calculations.
Assist in basic equipment selection.
Coordinate with other disciplines.
Collect, organize, and evaluate data.
