Job summary

Shambaugh & Son is looking for a mission-critical fire alarm technician to install, test, and maintain high-reliability life safety systems in sensitive environments like data centers, hospitals, and communication hubs where any failure causes downtime.

You will install complex low-voltage wiring and detection devices, perform commissioning and testing, conduct preventive maintenance, diagnose faults with specialized tools, and document NFPA compliance while coordinating with data center

Qualifications

• 2–5 years hands-on low-voltage electrical or commercial fire alarm experience.
• NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 knowledge; NICET certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights up to 40 ft.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install complex low-voltage wiring, control panels, and detection devices per blueprints.
• Commissioning and testing of fire alarm and suppression systems.
• Preventive maintenance and battery load testing to prevent failures.
• Advanced troubleshooting of ground faults, wiring anomalies, and comms errors.
• Maintain NFPA-compliant documentation of tests and changes.
• Coordinate with data center engineers, PMs, and safety officers during maintenance windows.
• Other duties as assigned.
