Electrical Engineer | Mission-Critical & Data Center Design
About the Opportunity
Are you an Electrical Engineer looking to work on complex, technically challenging projects that support some of the most critical infrastructure in the world?
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team specializing in mission-critical facilities and high-performance building systems. This is an opportunity to contribute to projects where electrical reliability, system performance, and precision are essential, while collaborating with experienced engineers across multiple disciplines.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electrical engineering design, enjoys solving technical challenges, and is interested in developing their expertise in power distribution, emergency power systems, lighting, and other critical electrical infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop electrical systems for mission-critical facilities, data centers, and other complex building environments.
- Produce detailed electrical construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and design documentation using Autodesk Revit.
- Design medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, including feeders, switchgear, panelboards, and associated equipment.
- Develop lighting systems, perform photometric analyses, and select appropriate lighting fixtures.
- Support emergency and standby power system design, including generators, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and automatic transfer switches.
- Perform electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, voltage drop calculations, and panel schedule development.
- Conduct and support engineering studies, including short-circuit/fault current analysis, selective coordination, arc-flash analysis, and Neher-McGrath ampacity calculations.
- Apply applicable electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, International Building Code (IBC), and relevant local requirements.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and low-voltage engineering disciplines.
- Review construction submittals, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and assist with technical questions during construction.
- Participate in design reviews and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes to ensure accurate, complete, and code-compliant deliverables.
- Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams to meet project milestones and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 3-7 years of electrical engineering design experience.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit for electrical design and modeling.
- Understanding of electrical power distribution, lighting design, load calculations, and applicable electrical codes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward obtaining it.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or interest in pursuing professional licensure.
- Exposure to data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, or other technically complex projects.
- Familiarity with emergency power systems, generators, UPS equipment, electrical coordination studies, or critical power infrastructure.
- Experience with electrical construction documentation, submittal reviews, RFIs, or construction administration.
