Job summary

ALTECH SOLUTIONS, LLC seeks a Linux System Administrator II to manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers in a high-security, mission-critical IT environment. The role involves day-to-day Linux administration, patching, hardening, and automation within a NASA Marshall Space Flight Center setting.

You will work with senior admins and various IT teams, employing shell scripts and automation tools to maintain systems and documentation. On-site Huntsville placement requires proximity to the center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/IT/Engineering)
• 2 years of Linux systems administration experience
• Shell scripting proficiency
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and IT security practices
• US citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
• Residence within 50 miles of Marshall Space Flight Center

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, physical and virtual
• Apply patches, updates, and security hardening, including STIG compliance
• Monitor system health and performance; troubleshoot root cause and document resolution
• Manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and access controls
• Support storage and file systems (LVM, partitions, NFS); backup and recovery operations
• Write shell scripts and use config management to automate tasks
• Support Linux VMs running on VMware estate
• Maintain system documentation and SOPs
• Track and resolve work through ticketing system and maintenance windows
