Job summary

IPT Associates (IPTA) is seeking an SME IT Systems Administrator - Linux to lead Linux operations at Redstone Arsenal/Huntsville. The role focuses on provisioning, hardening, and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems across production, development, and engineering workloads.

The candidate will mentor staff, coordinate cross‑team efforts, and drive automation and security initiatives while interfacing with management to align resources with project milestones and cyber deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• Minimum of 15 years IT systems administration or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of hands‑on enterprise Linux administration experience.
• Minimum of 3 years in technical lead or team leadership roles.
• Experience leading technical teams and coordinating across disciplines.
• Strong Linux administration with Red Hat Enterprise Linux expertise.
• Active Security Clearance Required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for Linux systems administration, operations, maintenance, and engineering.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership to Linux admins and infrastructure staff.
• Coordinate workload planning, prioritization, and task assignments.
• Lead incident response and major outage troubleshooting with cross‑functional teams.
• Develop and enforce standardized processes and security baselines.
• Mentor junior staff and drive training initiatives.
• Oversee infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts.
• Ensure accurate documentation and knowledge base updates.
