IPT Associates (IPTA) seeks a SME IT Systems Administrator - Linux to lead enterprise Linux operations at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on Linux server provisioning, security baselines, and cross-functional collaboration with IT teams across the organization.

The candidate will mentor junior admins, drive automation, and coordinate incident response, upgrades, and lifecycle management while ensuring system reliability and compliance with cybersecurity deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT/CS/Cybersecurity/Engineering/MIS or related field.
• 15+ years IT systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
• 8–10 years hands-on enterprise Linux administration.
• 3+ years technical lead or senior administrator experience.
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level personnel.
• Strong Linux OS expertise and security posture.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for Linux systems administration, operations, maintenance, and engineering activities.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership to Linux admins and infrastructure staff.
• Coordinate workload planning, prioritization, and assignment of tasks.
• Lead incident response and major outages with cross-functional teams.
• Review configurations, changes, and security baselines for compliance.
• Mentor team members and promote automation and best practices.
