Job summary

Loft Federal seeks an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to design and secure systems powering national security space missions. You’ll partner with software, systems, and mission engineers to integrate cybersecurity throughout the lifecycle—from architecture to authorization and continuous monitoring.

The role combines hands-on security engineering with RMF execution, ensuring government security requirements are met while enabling rapid mission delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in Information Systems Security Engineering or cybersecurity engineering.
• Experience implementing DoD RMF and NIST SP 800-53 controls.
• Experience developing RMF artifacts and supporting ATO.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux administration, system hardening, and vulnerability management.
• Strong understanding of secure system architecture and cybersecurity best practices.
• Active Top Secret clearance; TS/SCI eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Embed cybersecurity into design and development of space and ground systems.
• Develop secure architectures and implement security controls per RMF/NIST and DoD.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Support system hardening, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring.
• Conduct security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
• Work with DevSecOps to integrate security into pipelines.
• Coordinate with government customers and program teams to maintain compliant systems.
