Job summary

Loft Federal is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to help design and secure the systems powering our national security space missions. You will partner with software, systems, and mission engineers to integrate cybersecurity throughout the system lifecycle—from architecture through authorization and continuous monitoring.

This role blends hands-on security engineering with RMF execution, ensuring government security requirements are met while enabling rapid mission

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of Information Systems Security Engineering or cybersecurity engineering experience.
• Experience implementing the DoD RMF and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
• Experience developing RMF artifacts and supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux administration, system hardening, and vulnerability management.
• Strong understanding of secure system architecture and cybersecurity best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Active Top Secret security clearance; TS/SCI eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Embed cybersecurity into the design and development of space and ground systems.
• Develop secure system architectures and implement security controls aligned with RMF; DoD requirements.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities.
• Support system hardening, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring.
• Conduct security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to integrate security into automated pipelines.
• Work closely with government customers, ISSMs, and program teams to maintain compliant, mission-ready systems.
