Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Elkton, Maryland is seeking an experienced Mission Assurance Engineer 2/3 to support mission and quality assurance across proposals, design, manufacturing, and test activities. You will work with cross-functional teams to resolve quality and mission/flight assurance issues and interface with customers and suppliers.

The role requires 6+ years QA/MA experience or STEM degree with 2 years, reading engineering docs, applying RCA tools, and potentially obtaining a DoD Secret

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a quality/mission assurance engineer, or a STEM degree with 2 years’ experience, or a Master’s degree with 0 years’ experience.
• Ability to read engineering documentation, interpret drawings, develop inspection plans, and identify critical features.
• Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action tools (e.g., FMEA, DOE, 5Why).
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA programs, procedures, and controls.
• Perform internal audits within the QMS.
• Interface with suppliers to verify design, quality, and reliability.
• Review practices to improve efficiency and reduce risk to product quality.
• Interpret MA requirements and ensure they are integrated into program plans and drawings.
• Ensure contract requirements flow down to production and suppliers.
• Represent Mission Assurance at reviews (CCB, MRB, PMR, MRR/TRR, CAB).
• Perform RCCA analysis and problem-solving on program deficiencies.
• Analyze trends and drive improvements using key metrics.
• Lead risk management activities (dfMEA/pFMEA).
