Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an Assistant Group Supervisor for Mission Area Operations to lead a team of financial and operations professionals and provide strategic direction in support of the RED Mission Area.

You will partner with senior leaders to align priorities, manage budgeting and forecasting, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring staffing and processes meet mission needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Management, or another relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 2+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in business operations or related management functions.
• A thorough understanding of UARC business practices and applicable government regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop staff while cultivating relationships across the organization.
• Demonstrated integrity, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage all levels of staff and sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mission Area Operations and serve as the Mission Area Business Manager, guiding financial management and business operations.
• Define, align, and execute the group's strategic vision with leadership across the organization.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and business planning for the Mission Area.
• Provide leadership and development to Financial Management and Operations teams, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
• Promote clear communication across operations disciplines to align contractual, proposal, operations, and financial tasks.
