Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Morenci is seeking a Tire Technician to maintain, repair and replace tires on mobile equipment at our open-pit copper mine near Morenci, Arizona. You will diagnose tire issues, perform servicing and support safe, productive operations at the site.

The role requires 1 year of tire or mechanical repair experience, the ability to read schematics, and willingness to work a 24/7 schedule. On-site housing options and a comprehensive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in Tire Repair or mechanical repair and maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read and use schematics.
• Must have completed required competencies and pass a written assessment where required, including safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of tires on mobile equipment (haul trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks, pickups and other mine equipment).
• Diagnose tire and wheel issues, apply patches, plugs, stems, and make replacement decisions.
• Conduct preventative maintenance by inspecting tire wear, tread depth, pressure, temperature, and overall condition.
• May perform basic welding with a cutting torch.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, small mobile equipment, and impact guns.
• Maintain work orders and keep a clean, safe work area; perform inspections.
